Adrienne insists that she didn’t choose to become a hairstylist- the profession chose her, starting when she was a little girl cutting her dolls’ bangs- and then her sister’s! After graduating high school in Colorado, Adrienne moved east for formal training in cosmetology, and has never looked back or doubted her calling. Since becoming a stylist in 2001, she has worked on photo shoots and in film and theater as well as in the salon. She considers it her responsibility to listen carefully to her clients and create a style that fits their personal style, whether conservative or extreme. “When people leave my chair loving the way they look, I know they are going out in the world feeling happy, confident, and sexy.”
Danielle grew up in New Jersey but always felt a draw to New York City, the center of fashion and beauty. After earning her cosmetology license, she apprenticed with a Redken color specialist in an upscale New Jersey salon before making her way to the Big Apple and Salon Above. While building her clientele, Danielle has never neglected her training, attending numerous specialty courses in coloring, cutting, and styling techniques in order to keep up with the current trends and ideas. She loves working closely with her clients to find the color and style that will bring out their inner beauty and confidence.
Dessi, who is originally from Bulgaria, developed her artistic eye from studying in art school in Europe. She went on to master the art of hairdressing. Her eye for aesthetics with her natural talent make her a truly gifted stylist. Dessi is creative, open and innovative with rich color and chic hair cutting. She communicates these ideas clearly to the clients in her chair, and men and women of all ages are always satisfied with what she has given them.
Mary is originally from Chicago, and has worked in the beauty industry for two decades. Over the course of her career she has had many mentors, including Trevor Sorbie, Robert Lobetta, and Kevin Aucoin. A fan of clean lines and perfect balance, she studies her clients’ features in order to design a look that maximizes their beauty and individuality. As she puts it: “I feel that color should add dimension to the hair, so it will look animated even when there is no movement. Hair looks most attractive when it is shiny, healthy, and doesn’t look overworked.”
Monika, originally from Poland, has been a hairdresser for her entire adult life. She began studying cosmetology in high school and from there became an assistant in a Manhattan salon. Her calm and easy steadiness makes her an exceptional hair cutter and colorist. Monika has studied hair cutting with the greats of her profession. She is all about being focused, focused, focused. Her extensive knowledge of color makes color application and correction an effortless task. She looks at her clients, and together, they decide what will be the right look for them.
