Aesthetician

In 1994 Helen Mohammed, who was born and raised in Puerto Rico, was the only member of her family available to come to New York to look after her ailing grandmother. The move was supposed to be temporary but Helen fell in love with the city and never left. Sadly Helen’s grandmother passed on. Helen enrolled in beauty school to become a nail technician and immediately after graduation she secured a position at an upper west side salon where she remained for 14 years. Helen perfected her skills and quickly became the salon’s most requested technician, and was frequently recruited by competing salons. When the salon abruptly closed, some of Helen’s clients requested her services privately. She gladly accommodated them but is now happy to have a new home to service her clientele with her personal service and expertise. When Helen is not making beautiful hands and feet she volunteers her time at a Bronx community senior center near her home. She also enjoys being near the water whenever possible and practices meditation to keep herself grounded.
